issue: 'corrupted file' detected

I ran a full Sophos scan on my MacBook Air (OS Sierra) and got the message "issue: 'corrupted file' detected." I don't recognize any of the directories/subdirectories mentioned in the description of this file's location (it starts with '/private/var/db/systemstats/ and goes on). So I have two questions.

(1) Do I understand correctly from earlier threads that it's really safe to ignore this?

(2) How would I find this file (and should I even try to)? a routine Finder search does not turn it up.

Thanks for any advice (also for your patience with what I'm sure is a newbie question).
