Sophos virus removal tool says restart required to clean infection

Sophos virus removal tool says restart required to clean infection it found but upon restart it still tells me to restart.

Infection is not being removed on restart

Now I can't use the tool because it always just says "restart required".

    Hello Gerry Anthony,

    you say when you open the SVRT GUI after the restart you get the list of threats instead of the main window? Or does this list immediately appear after the restart? Which Windows version?
    The SVRT Overview article tells where to find the log and also how to optionally run it from the command line.
