annoying pop up every few mins

I keep getting MICROPHONE IS ACTIVE pop ups from sophos,

constantly for the last few days,everytime i open a program,everytime i load a song from yt, its driving me crazy,sophos has worked fine for months now this

    No problem.

     

    In the interim I've already raised a ticket with support but unfortunately they were little to no help with the reply being "We would be happy to pass your feedback along to our development team along with the application you mentioned."

     

    I was at least hoping they would acknowledge whether this is a bug or expected behaviour but I find it difficult to believe it is by design.

    Still any further insight you can provide would be appreciated.

  • Haridoss, All, the problem is back, though in a different form.

    Since a few days ago, Sophos Home 2.0.9 on my MacOS 10.14.3 is notifying me that Google Chrome 72.0.3626.109 is using my microphone every time I play a new video, e.g. on YouTube, Vimeo or npostart.nl (the Netherlands' national broadcaster VoD service, where I live).

    Chrome's settings require all websites to ask for permission before using the microphone, and no notification comes from Chrome. This means that one of the two applications is lying.

    Moreover, I've just whitelisted Chrome by mistake and now I can't find how to remove it from the whitelist. The "Mic protection" section does not show a whitelist textbox like you have - for example - in the "Web filtering" section.

    Sorry to hear about the problem.
    I tested a similar setup (Sophos Home 2.0.9 + Chrome 72 + MacOS 10.14.3) and was unable to reproduce the issue using YouTube.

    I will need some additional info to further assist you:
    Are you currently using any extensions in Google Chrome?
    (If yes, please provide a list of which ones so that I can test them).

    Do you have any other browsers to test if the behavior follows you there? 

    Regarding the whitelist, you can remove a whitelisted application by following these steps:
    Removing an application from the Privacy Guard exceptions
