Unencrypting a Hard Drive from a Crashed Device

We had a laptop that died on us, but the hard drive is still good. We've setup the a new laptop for the user, but we would like to be able to get their files off the old hard drive. The problem is it's still encrypted and prompts us to reformat the drive when we try to open the drive. Is there a way to unencrypt the drive with it being connected externally to a different machine?
