Sharing Violation error when decrypting a drive

Hello

I need to decrypt a drive that uses Sophos SafeGuard Enterprise.  I have setup everything in the console to allow decryption and can see the option to decrypt the drive on the workstation however when I try decrypting I immediately get errors.

I get the window with

Drive C: Decryption
Preparing decryption

CPU usage: -------------------|

which is immediately followed with a pop-up

'The file "c:\folder\file.dll" file cannot be processed.
Sharing Violation Action?

(.) Ignore error and continue with encryption

( ) Ignore all errors and continue with encryption

Client version is 7.00.0.97

What does this mean?  If I ignore all errors will files be decrypted?

Thank you!

Is that the exact error message "c:\folder\file.dll"? That path and file name does not match any thing safeguard related.

Is there a file in this location?

Have you tried rebooting before trying the decryption again?  Do you get the same error message?

  • Hi and thank you.

Yes rebooted many times and yes the folder and file does exist (although I replaced name in my example)

I do have more information. When you choose "Ignore all errors and continue with encryption" after a few minutes Windows Explorer will crash and you get another error

    Sophos SafeGuard

! Connection to host process failed (Error Code: 0x6be).

    OK

I reall need to remove all encryption from these systems and de-install Safeguard.

Is there an alternative way to do this?  Can you decrypt on boot?

  • We may have fixed this.

Will post fix when I confirm.

    Thank you!
