Windows 10 Anniversary Update issue

Hello all,

Just wondering if anybody else is having issues with the version 1607 Windows 10 Enterprise Anniversary Update on encrypted (managed) clients? We've got a mix of encrypted and unencrypted machines on our network and the only machines struggling with the update are those that have been encrypted. We've tried updating both manually and using our remote patching system and neither method has been successful.

We're assuming the problem is caused by the multiple restarts involved in the update process - does anybody know of a fix or workaround that doesn't involve decrypting the volume/uninstalling Sophos before applying the updates? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

I'm afraid there isn't any information available at present but as soon as I hear anything I'll update this post for you, sorry I can't be more help than that at present.

  • Hello everybody,

i have new informations about this:

    But we have other Problems.

When the Update 1607 is installed, after a reboot(not everytime) of the pc, we got stuck on windows recovery screen.

We have to type in the bitlocker recovery key to go forward but the windows recovery failed and the pc boots again.

Again with windows recovery and bitlocker recovery key.

We think, that the Update is the reason for this. A possible solution is not found yet.

The only thing that helps is to make a recovery of the entire PC with the 1511 Version and not install the 1607 update.

    Best regards

  • Hello,

we have the same problems with Safeguard 8 and Windows 10 newest Updates.

The problems occurred after every Windows update interval and we had to run a BitLocker C / R so that the employees could work again.

It's bad that Sophos can not adjust to Mircosoft's new update policy.

    Best regards

    Michael

  • We've had a mixed experience with the upgrade - on my PC it worked seamlessly but another member of the team running pretty much the same setup had to perform multiple restarts to get the BitLocker interface to recognise the keyboard, having been prompted to select a keyboard layout yet being presented with no options! We're going to hold off on upgrading any more clients to version 8 while we monitor the situation on the two machines we've already upgraded - not keen on the idea of rolling this out and potentially creating a load of extra support requests if things don't work properly post-upgrade.

    Hello DKNL,

Windows 10 1607 (Redstone 1 / Anniversary Edition) is a major update, did you remember to suspend BitLocker before updating?

Michael, it's not a case of simply "adjusting" to Microsoft's update policy. Firstly, this is BitLocker, developed by Microsoft, not Sophos. Secondly, you can't write software so it just works on any future version of an operating system, software development simply doesn't work like that.

  • Hi Toby,

i did not supend BitLocker but i give that a try.

  • Hi Toby,

    for your informationen.

Supending the Bitlocker does not work either.

I have formated the complete drive, update windows and reinstall safeguard and start encrypt the drive.

Maybe some other people will be lucky with your suggestion :)

    Best Regards
