It is possible to update to a new major version of Windows 10 when SafeGuard Enterprise (SGN) is installed, even if the volumes are encrypted using BitLocker. However, changes in the Operating System can have an impact on the reliable operation of the SafeGuard Client.
This article lists the tested and supported combinations of the SafeGuard client on specific Windows 10 versions.
We will test each new Windows 10 version, and list the compatibility here. Newly released Feature Updates of Windows 10 may not be fully supported immediately, however we will undertake reasonable effort to resolve issues.

During testing of the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (also known as version 2004, and codenamed “20H1”) we have observed an issue in combination with SafeGuard Enterprise File Encryption and SafeGuard Enterprise Synchronized Encryption. The issue has in the meantime been addressed by Microsoft with the 2020-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems (KB4556803). This update should automatically be installed when you upgrade to 20H1, but you can verify it in the "Installed Updates" section of "Programs and Features" in the "Control Panel".
An official approval for support of SafeGuard Enterprise on this Windows 10 version, depends on the outcome of further testing, which is planned to be completed end of June 2020. We will then update this KBA with new information.
Please consult the Windows lifecycle fact sheet in regard to the end of support for specific Windows 10 versions.
* Upgrading from Windows 7, 8 or a previous W10 version to W10 19H1 or 19H2 with an installed SafeGuard version 8.00.6, will fail if the Synchronized Encryption module (application-based file encryption) is installed. We recommend upgrading to a SafeGuard version which utilizes a file system minifilter driver (integrated as of version 8.10).
