Error message when ejecting USB jumpdrives

Hi, we are runing the Management Center 6.00 and are getting some errors when ejecting jumpdrives from machines that have the encryption software installed on them.

Error mesage that we get is:  Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device  Windows can't stop your 'Generic volume' device because a program is still using it.  Close any programs that might be using the device, and then try again later.

Ideas?

  • I contacted tech support and they asked me this question:  "Optimize for quick removal or for performance?"

Does anyone know where to check that at?

If I copy data to the jumpdrive it seems to be fine, but if I open a file and then do a Save As directly to the jumpdrive, it seems to get the error.

  • Hello CharlieHawk,

when the device is plugged in open the Device Manager, go to Disk drives, select the drive, double-click (or [right-click/menu Action] -> Properties) and there tab Policies

  • Thanks.  I found that setting and I changed the policy to "Better Performance" and it will let me eject it using Windows Explorer or from Disk Management, but I still get the error when try to eject the drive from the little icon down by the clock.  Could it be the brand of jump drive that I am using?  I have tried a few different brands but haven't come up with anything yet.
