Safeguard credential provider password field doesn't work

Hello,

recently I have seen this on a Surface 3 and a Dell Venue 11 (7130) both wint Windows 8.1 and SGN 7.0.

After installing the client and the first logon to windows after POA the password field of the Safeguard Crential Provider doesn't take any input of characters. Just nothing happens. If the Windows credential provider is sued the system shuts down after entering the password.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,

STHN

    Hello STHN,

Windows shutting down when you login through the Windows tile is to be expected, this ensures you log into the correct tile.
As for the SafeGuard tile not taking any input of characters this is not something I've seen before, very strange indeed.
What version of Windows 8.1 are those devices running (Pro/Enterprise/RT etc)?
Do you have other machines that are working? If so, anything that differentiates those machines in terms of setup?
  • Hello Toby,

We seem to have the same issue with our Dell Venue's. We installed Windows 8.1 Professional and are using Safeguard Enterprise version 7.00.2.23 as the agent. On of our tech's just ran into this this morning.

    Thanks for your help
  • Sorry, forgot to mention that it is the keyboard being non responsive that is the issue the we ran into.

    Hi Stanley,

It's bit of an odd one, but it sounds like an issue between the SafeGuard Credential Provider and your GPO settings, please can you make sure you've set the following GPOs up:
    - Require additional authentication at startup
    - Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM
    - Enable use of BitLocker authentication requiring preboot keyboard input on slates
    - Configure minimum PIN length for startup
    - Turn on TPM backup to Active Directory Domain Services
