Windows no longer genuine after Safeguard 5.6 install

Hello.  I installed Safeguard 5.6 on a Dell E6420 with Win 7 32bit SP1.  After the install windows reported it was modified in an unauthorized way and that it's no longer genuine.    Prior to the Safeguard install, windows was activated and genuine as it usually is when it's preactivated at the factory by Dell.

I installed Safeguard like I always do.  I'm using a Dell OEM version of Win7.

Has anyone every seen something like this before?

    Was there a resolution to this?  I am seeing this on a Windows 7 64bit enterprise Lenovo T420 with SGN version 6.0.1.  My plan at this point was to just give him a new laptop as we just handed these out about a month ago.  Knowing how to resolve the problem would be prefered however.

    I have same issue with Lenovo ThinkPad T420s.

    After sophos Safeguard 5.60 installation Windows is no longer genuine.

    we have very few reports from customers about Windows 7 being no longer genuine after the installation of SafeGuard Enterprise.

    This is currently being analysed internally and we're actively working on a resolution to this problem.

    I    t is not yet clear if SafeGuard Enterprise alone affects the Windows ginuine status of the current installation or if only installations in combination with a certain 3rd party product are affected, but as SafeGuard Enterprise brings device drivers that operate on a very low level, it might be possible that Windows sees the installation as a "significant hardware change" and requires a re-activation - although one significant hardware change at a time is not sufficient to trigger the mechanism:

    "Will I ever need to activate my current copy of Windows again?

    Maybe. You might have to activate Windows again if:


    You make a significant hardware change to your computer, such as upgrading the hard disk and memory at the same time. If a major hardware change requires activating     Windows again, you will be notified and will have three days to activate your copy of Windows."

    However, clients that are affected report to be ginuine again after being connected to the internet / internal Windows KMS servers.


    As mentioned before, the issue is currently being analysed and I'll try to keep the post up-to-date.

    Any resolution to this?  We are on 6.0 and 6.1, and just had a Lenovo desktop suddenly become "not genuine".

    This is the only post I can find that is relevant, but no answer from Sophos in years.
