A change is being made to the way the Email Appliance downloads it's data updates, in the future these will be downloaded via HTTPS rather than the current HTTP method.
This may have an impact on some customers in the following scenarios:
- Port 443 outbound from the Email Appliance is restricted to specific destinations
- An upstream device is performing HTTPS scanning on outbound connections from the Email Appliance
The following KBA has been written covering the specific URLs to which access is required and scanning exceptions may need to be setup for:

This will gradually be rolled out to appliances in batches to ensure there are no unforeseen problems. If you do notice any problems receiving data updates after confirming the steps in the above article have been followed, then do contact Sophos Support so that we can look into this
