Spam classification

Hello,

I have a few questions to Sophos Email Appliance.

I configured Sophos PureMessage for Unix in the past. PureMessage has the possibility to configure rules with the exact spam probability (in percent). Unfortunately with the appliance, I can only configure "High" and "Medium". Is there any way to configure this more precisely? We want to configure rules in 10 % steps. Each step will have a longer added Subject. Here is what we want to do to:

Spam probability = >50 % Subject = [PMX:#]
Spam probability = >60 % Subject = [PMX:##]
Spam probability = >70 % Subject = [PMX:###]
Spam probability = >80 % Subject = [PMX:####]
Spam probability = >90% Subject =  [PMX:#####]

Also I want to know the exact classification of "High" and "Medium". Is there a percentage, that defines these two categories (like PureMessage)? Is there a possibility to edit "Medium" and "High"?

Regards

  • You would really not want to notify a spammer his message was rejected or dropped. (or provide any additional information to a would-be spammer)

The recommended method is to quarantine medium spam and discard high spam.

The other problem is you may end up getting yourself blacklisted in the process.
