Outlook Add-in and Appliance Integration?

I am currently testing Sophos Outlook Add-in version 1.3.0. Is there a way to use the Outlook Add-in to submit spam addresses to the Blocked Senders list on my Sophos Email Appliance? I have been using the Outlook Add-in to submit samples to Sophos but it does not seem to prevent spam from these addresses from coming through (no spoofs). It's my understanding that the samples are sent to help improve Sophos' heuristics, but is there a more immediate solution for my network? I am having to manually type the address of each spam domain into the Blocked Senders list on my Email Appliance, and also use the Outlook Add-in to submit the samples to Sophos. Is there a way to do both in one shot and simplify the process? If not, is there another means of providing this functionality?

Thanks!

  • The process is for the most part already doing what you had mentioned.. when you submit samples with the outlook plugin they are automatically scanned and added to update the deffination files. Once that is pushed out and your appliance updates then those emails would be blocked at the connection level.

Although the processe may not be instant, it is very effective.
