Upgrading from ES4000 - copy config over?

I am moving from an outdated ES4000 to an ES1100. I'm aware configuration files can be copied between appliances of the same model, but should I be able to move my config file from the 4000 to the 1100?

    Hi Chris,

    The best way to accomplish this is to :

    rack up the new appliance and go through the quick install guide. (there is two options)
    #1 I don't care about quarantine
    #2 I want to save my quarantine (you could also release all mail prior)

    Option #1
    In the event that you don't care about the quarantine, when asked give the new 1100 some hostname and some ip that can get out to the net. about half way through you will be prompted to join a cluster, select yes and enter the 4000's IP address. Complete the install, once everything is up and running.

    Log into the 4000 directly by ip . 192.168.1.100:18080 .. under the clustering menu, select its self and remove it from the cluster. Once that's done, power down the appliance.

    Then log into the new 1100, change the IP and host name to the old 4000.

    And your done.

    Option #2
    If you wish to keep your quarantine do all of the same, except do NOT remove the cluster member. change your incoming port 25 traffic to the new appliance, then go into exchange and create your send / receive connectors for the new appliance. (so all inbound and outbound mail should go through the new appliance)

    now you can keep the old 4000 up online, as long as you still have your exchange server sending sea-auto-approve emails to the 4000 and its able to relay to exchange then you can let it expire on it own after 30 days.

    then log into the 4000 drop it from the cluster and your done.
