ES1100 root password

We received a replacement ES1100 for one that is failing.  I have configured it and set it's IP and name to the same as the one it is replacing. It is currently disconnected from the network to prevent confusion.  It now won't let me log in.  I do not know/remember the admin password and for some reason it doesn't like mine.  I was going to try and reset the admin password but I don't know the root password either.

Any ideas? I tried hooking a monitor and keyboard to the unit and rebooting. Instructions I found say to do that and when it gets to the GRUB loader press the ESC key.  I don't ever see the GRUB loader screen.

  • I think you'll need to contact support@sophos.com.

As an end-user you have no access to the back-end.

On the login page click the forgot password link, I think you will have the option to enable remote access for Sophos support. You may need to supply your activation code.

    Regards.

I appreciate this however I am not "an end user".  I am the Network Manager.

I have attempted the reset using the instructions at:  https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/115346#How to reset all passwords

However I don't get the GRUB loader message on item #3

Power on the UTM and wait for the GRUB boot loader to start

...and then press the Esc key when prompted.
