WCCP Configuration Advice

Question

After a bit of advice here if i may, we currently have a WS1100 we have deployed in explicit mode sworking well however with BYOD gaining traction I was looking at switching to transparent mode.

We currently have a cisco 2911 router however its configured and managed by our ISP and all config changes have to be hand written signed and faxed across. So why question is this exactly what changes do I need them to make and what information do I need back from them?

Am I simply asking them to setup L2 WCCP on the router to forward port 80 & 443 traffic to our internal proxy and me know the group password to put in the appliance?

Are we likley to see higher latencies and a drop in performance switching to transparent deployment?

Hi tallwood,

Yes that's about the size of it. There actually isn't much configuration required on the appliance other than enabling WCCP, then entering the router IP(s) and service group password.

You're not likely to see a drop in performance unless you have a large amount of traffic that currently bypasses the proxy.
