Does Email appliance assign Spam Confidence Level to emails?

We are using a couple of the virtual email appliances in an HA pair. We have a hybrid Exchange environment with On premises servers protected by the SOphos devices. We also have part of the Exchange migrated to Office 365. Users are complaining that when cloud based users send on premises users emails, they frequently end up in the Junk Mail folder of Outlook. I have "whitelisted" the emaiul domain in the Exchange servers so they do not get a low SCL score and end up in the Junk folder. I was wondering whether the Sophos email appliances also assign SCL scores to messages that pass through their scanners? If so can we whitelist according to the messages' source IP addresses since the Microsoft Office 365 IP addresses are published.

  • Hello,

The Sophos email appliance gateway products do not apply an SCL value to a message.  Our product through various levels of detection and lookups try and determine whether a message is spammy or malicious.  Messages with a probability score of 90% or higher is considered high spam and discard.  Scores between 50% - 89% are classified as medium and quarantined if defined that way.
