Preventing blockerd from running on Puremessage linux V6

We have several PMX linux systems that we recently upgraded to V6.  Because some of the systems are only used to handle internal and internal outbound mail, there is no reason to have them run blockerd.

Our V5.61 systems were configured not to, but I can't recall the steps I used to accomplish that step.  I did search both the knowledge base and this forum and could find nothing.

It is possible to disable blocker, but when I have tried that, it 1) over writes our cutomizations for postfixes main.cf, and 2) does not  prevent blockerd from starting on a pmx restart.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

  • Hi Bob,

Yes, when you disable IP blocker via the GUI it is just changing the smtpd_client_restrictions setting to remove postfix's link to blocker.  There shouldn't be much overhead in leaving the actual daemon running.

However, if you do want to remove it you can uninstall the actual package (as pmx6 user):

    ppm remove PureMessage-Blocklist-Daemon

    Hope this helps,

    Tom.
