Migrating Pure Message for linux to VM appliance

Hello,

I have an existing 3 node cluster of PurMessage for Unix and we're thinking of movig this to use the VM appliance that was released recently and I have a couple of questions:

1. Has anyone done this and been very happy with the move?

2. Is there a way to export the config from PureMessage and import it into the VM?

3. Is it possible to join a VM into an existing PM cluster? If yes, how do you promote the VM to be the master?

4. Is it possible to install/upgrade the VMtools for the VM (I know it's based on FreeBSD)

The good news is we're only using PM as a DMZ gateway so the amount of config is possible to move by hand. I'm just trying to think of questions my other co-workers will be asking.

Thank you,

Erric

  • Hi Erric,

To answer a few of your configuration questions regarding moving from PMU to Virtural Appliance.  There is currently no ability to export/import your configuration without the assistance from us.  The appliance software cannot straight import the information from your PureMessage installation.  The software between the products are different and you cannot join the two products together.  Lastly the Virtual appliance image is a closed image so you cannot update the VMTools.

If you need assistance with migration please contact our support team.
