[WSA] inline config not affect

Hi,

i have a problem here, i attach a WSA box on my existing network with inline (bridgemode) with this topology

USERS-SWITCH-WSA-(BLUECOAT) as explicit PROXY and QOS- INTERNET.

my purpose is to have a webfilter and an antivirus from WSA 1100 box, but the problem is when i already attach the box on my network is, it just bypassing the rule, nothing happen, even no logs appear on the dashboard, no traffic seen.

please let me know what happen to my WSA, license and updates is works already.

many thanks,

  • oh one more thing, i realize i might not work because there is an explicit proxy setting at the client browser which might redirect any internet request (port 80,443) to port 8080.

is there any possible WSA can scan a redirected packet to internet over a proxy address?

    many thanks

  • Hello ind4n,

In a bridged deployment the appliance only filters port 80 and 443 traffic.   If this is a concern you should only allow HTTP/HTTPS traffic on these ports at firewall level.  Also, you should disable the proxy service on the bluecoat.

Once you remove the proxy settings I would expect browsing and filtering to work properly.   Alternatively, you can actually use the appliance as an explicit proxy (port 8080) even when it is in bridged mode.

    Hope this helps!

    Tom.
