Email Appliance - Host not found

Our Email appliance is constantly getting failures looking up MX records for certain domains - .gov , comcast.net , aol.com .

The error reported is Host not Found.

The MX records for these domain does exist and the sophos tech and see it from the box.

We've been give temporary work arounds basically involving reseting the network on the box but they only last a day or so.  Is anyone else seeing this problem and is there a permanent fix?

Thanks!

  • Hi Skyman,

There isn't a known bug about this, and I'd be surprised if a DNS bug had been introduced recently.

Have you tested the DNS server being used in 'Configuration | Network | Network Interface'?  Is it definitely responding properly at the same time the issue occurs?  You could test with:

    nslookup -type=mx <domain> <DNSserver>

    Thanks,
    Tom.
