Disabling user feedback for an individual site

We're looking for a way to stem the flood of snarky Facebook review requests.  We'd like to disable user feedback for Facebook only.  We've found that setting the site's security risk level to High in the local site list removes the user feedback option, but that also removes our ability to provide Facebook access to the few people that have a legitimate need.  Is there a smoother way to do this?

  • I created a group inside of Active Directory for end users that need access to Facebook.  Then i created an additional policy to allow personals and dating sites.  I set it to Warn the end user however.  They can access it, but are reminded the site access is logged.  Seems to work good for us.

You can also do this by creating a TAG (inside of Local Site List) for just Facebook and it's subdomains and in the addtional policy only allow certain people to the TAG that you've created.  They would still get the default policy and the TAG would allow them access to Facebook.

Keep in mind that the place of the policies is applied in the order they are read from the end users browser.  So if you have a policy that is blocking it at the #1 position, then the addtional policy in the #2 position will not apply.

  • That's not what I'm asking.  What I would like to do is to prevent the users for whom facebook is blocked from submitting review requests with the user feedback feature.  I would like user feedback to remain in place for other blocked sites.

  • I havent tested it yet, but I would think you could make an additional policy to block Personals and Dating and inside that policy turn off "Allow User Feedback"

You may be able to do it with the TAGs inside the local site list just for Facebook....

  • That sounded like a great idea.  Unfortunately, it didn't work.  I'll just have to add this to my growing list of complaints about this product.  I really miss our WebWasher.

  • Hi Chris,

I'm afraid that the 'Allow User Feedback' option in additional policies affects all categories, including those that are set to 'Use Default'.  So at the moment you can disable user feedback on a per-user basis, but not per-category or site.

I'll raise this as a suggestion for our developers to look at.

If there are any other concerns you want to discuss, please do open another thread or call our support team to give feedback.

    Thanks,

    Tom.
