Export or migrate configuration, policy to the new Puremessage server

Hi all,

I have a Puremessage for Unix server with version 5.6.1, RHEL 4. Now, I want to ugrade PMX to version 6, and intall PMX 6 on the new server with RHEL 5  OS. However, I cannot find the method to export or migrate configuration, policy (the rule, data of offensive words, blacklisted senders.....) from the old PMX to the new PMX. Could you tell me the solution for the problem.

Thank  you in advance,

Nghia,

  • Hi Nghia,

There is not a migration tool that will assist in copying over the necessary files from one server to another.  On your RHEL 5 server where you installed PMX 6.0, there is a scripts directory that contains the migration tools.  From there you can create a shell script to extract all the necessary configuration files to be copied over from the old server to the new server.

However, a caution is if you do use that method you will need to make sure that any file that was modifed for IPv6 will need to be added back if you straight copied the file over.

The file /opt/pmx6/var/migrate/v6/pmx-v5configlist contains the files in which would have been migrated if installing on the same server.

The other alternative would be to copy the entire pmx directory from the old server to the new server and then run the pmx-v6-migrate tool from /opt/pmx6/bin/.
