Upgrade to PM 3.1 for Exchange 2003 SP2

Hello,

Currently running 3.0.1.0 for Exchange and would like to upgrade to 3.1.

Can I run the setup and will it auto update the current install or will I have to uninstall and redo the install from scratch?

Also I've tried to run the installer and I get to the create user account part and I cannot get it to accept a complex enough password, it fails every time, no matter what I try or how complex I make it. I'm conforming to the sec policy but it refuses to take any complex password I give it for the user it wants to create - very frustrating. Any tricks for that? Thanks

  • Hello,

You should be able to run the Puremessage 3.1 installer on top of any previous Puremessage 3.x installation, though there is always the possibility that the installer runs into an issue with updating the existing components. As a precaution, be sure to backup your existing configuration before any attempts.

Regarding the password complexity error, there could be a few possible causes of that error. The issue itself isn't tied to your AD policy; the primary cause is a conflict in the domain name and the NETBIOS lookup of the associated DC with that domain. If you haven't already contacted support directly, please do so, including the full error that you're receiving when you're trying to install.

    Thanks.

  • Ok I'll try and upgrade. I have a feeling it was part of the old SBS install but I don't think it would matter as it's totally separate from the AV component.

The funny thing is, I'm running the install on the domain controller :smileytongue: it's SBS. I may have to contact support in the end, but it's not a massive deal at the moment, thanks for the help!
