Puremessage

Hi,

I have recently been put onto a society mailing list however I am unable to recieve any of the emails. Each time they send one I get an email saying:

PureMessage has quarantined some messages addressed to you because

they appear to be spam.

To view your quarantined messages visit: [link]

However the link that is sent does not work. I do not own puremessage and have never used it. Is there something I need to do to access these messages or is it a problem at their end that I should contact them about?

Thanks,

Alex

  • Hello Alex,

who is your email provider? And what means the link does not work - could you post the error you get? You have to find out who's responsible for the PureMessage which seems to intercept these messages and contact them.

  • The email is a university email account. However I also asked for the emails to be sent to my gmail account where I had the same problem.

The error which occurs when I click the link is:

Oops! Google Chrome could not find rcs-exch-fe1.rcseng.ac.uk:8081

    Your help is much appreciated!

  • Hello Alex,

as for the failing link you should contact the IT support. Maybe this link is deliberately not accessible from everywhere or it might just be an error in the setup.

I also asked for the emails to be sent to my gmail account

Did you request to be subscribed with your gmail address or did you request a forward from your rcseng.ac.uk address? A forward wouldn't help as the messages are usually not forwarded without being scanned first.

  • I requested to be subscribed with my gmail account.

Do you mean the IT support of the society sending the emails or my own network?

Sorry if the questions are stupid, i'm pretty new to this!

  • If you get mail with a similar link (i.e. To view your quarantined messages visit: pointing to rcs-exch-fe1.rcseng.ac.uk:8081 ) on both your university and your gmail account then likely it already looks like this when it is distributed by the list (although in this case other subscribers should get them too). Please check the sender of the mails - where does it come from?

From the sparse information you gave I (perhaps incorrectly) deduce that the society is at RCS and you are at another university - is this correct?

  • Yes that's correct, I am at a different university. Should I contact them and ask why this happens?

    Thanks

  • Hm, really looks like these messages are distributed by the Society's list so they are the ones to contact.
