ES4000 -> Virtual Email Appliance

Hi all,

Apologies if this is an obvious question, but I can't seem to find the relevant info.  Basically we've got an (out of warranty) ES4000 e-mail appliance and are just about to renew our subscription (Data Protection Suite).  However, since the appliance is out of warranty and has had a few disk failures so far, one of the options we're looking at is replacing it with a virtual appliance.  I note that an activation code is needed for this, but I can't find one in any of the license documentation I have.

In short, my question is do I have to buy this separately, or can I just ask for one?  As mentioned above, we've already got licenses for the Data Protection Suite, which I believe covers this (???).  The whole point of looking at the virtual appliance is the cost saving as opposed to buying a new physical one, which may not be valid if another purchase is required for an activation code!

Thanks for any info!

  • Hi newco,

    Sure, you can use the same code to setup another virtual appliance.

    Another option is to clone the virtual appliance in vmware and then use the 'Re-register' option (in the vmware console) to register it with us as a seperate device.

    Thanks,

    Tom.
