Virtual Email Appliance issue

The virtual email appliance won't acept inbound email:

220 secure-email.myneonchart.org ESMTP Sophos Email Appliance v3.7.4.0
ehlo me
250-secure-email.myneonchart.org
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 41943040
250-ETRN
250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
250-8BITMIME
250 DSN
mail from: dclark@advizex.com
250 2.1.0 Ok
rcpt to: al@nhealth.org
450 4.1.1 <al@nhealth.org>: Recipient address rejected: unverified address: c
onnect to 192.168.10.252[192.168.10.252]:25: Operation timed out

The funny thing there is no reference I can find to the 192.168.10.252 server in the config, I removed it. That is the Exchange 2007 Edge transport that I want to do away with and just use the appliance. It did at one point forward inbound to this. I can't figure how to fix this. Rebooting appliance made no difference.

Thanks for your Help.

  • Hi,

The default configuration for the inbound email messages requires that the sender have a valid DNS entry to verify the sending domain.  You can configure the appliance to allow messages from unknown senders by going to the Admin interface and going to the following section.

Configuration -> Policy -> SMTP Options -> Perimeter Protection

Once you are on that tab uncheck the box labeled "Block mail from non-existent domains", this will allow the message to be accepted by the MTA to be procesed by the policy.
