I have this setup. Install the full suite onto your primary DC and then just the client on your other DC's. Point the clients to the primary DC STAS and it works.
I had a devil of a job getting STAS to work with my auditing on 2012r2 but once up and running, it works. You may need to put exceptions in there too so certain accounts don't show as logged in eg service accounts etc
