Interface eth0 hangs

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or not but since last update to 9.205-12 I'm having some problems with the eth0 interface that keeps resetting and I loose all lan connections including the two AP30 that are connected to this interface. I will attach the kernel log to help checking the error messages and I would like to have some support from you guys.

My UTM version 9.205-12
Motherboard Intel DQ77KB

Glad they're getting this fixed. I'm running Sophos UTM on an Intel NUC, had to do the config workaround.

Hi,

Sorry, I should have said "kernel log"... look for 'reset' or 'hang' in the kernel log.

OK... yes, you're getting the hardware hang messages... odd that you're still getting them if you've ran the ethtool command as root.

Hopefully the fix in 9.206 will work, and will be available soon.

Hi Guys,

My experience in Linux is minimal but I was wondering if this driver update from the intel website should solve this hang issue?

At least in the release notes "Read Me (txt)" it says Fix Unit Hang.

Is it possible to install it on the UTM? Will this solve the problem?

Hi, Linux drivers have to be compiled with the kernel, which is non-trivial, and cannot be done on the UTM itself.

Sophos are reportedly including a new driver in the forthcoming 9.206 release.

I was expecting a more positive answer! [:@]
The problem is that I cannot put some load on the interface because is always resetting and some of the downloaded files are corrupted and to make it worse the "ethtool" fix does not work with my UTM!!
I really hope that Sophos could release this fix "ASAP"!!

Not easily, if at all. The intel download is source code and the UTM is missing multiple pieces that would be required to turn the source code into kernel module(s).
