[ANSWERED] Does this BETA Support VMWare ESXi Installs?

While I personally are not running this version in a VM at this stage, it does work in ESXi and KVM and others.

Use the normal install ISO.

I am currently running with the recommended settings using Other Linux 2.6 64 Bit. All is copacetic so far.

There are also VM images available for VMware/Hyper-V and others...
Simply look at the beta download page.

The short answer = yes.
Cyberoam and Sophos detect and load VMWare esxi drivers.

The bad news is that the nic order has not been fixed yet. so what is configured in VMware is not always the order shown in linux which is a PITA.

Agreed 100% with Mark. I have not been able to adjust the NIC Order to match ESXi either. It is a bit frustrating.

Here is my best answer
Go into console and check mac and ip address and edit.
I only have problems when I use more than 4 nics which is all the time.

I'm buying a new 12 port server that sayes it has passed all ESXi tests, inc nics. So I will tell in the next couple of weeks whether spending over $3k on a home firewall is worth it.

Back on August 22nd, I posted that /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules didn't exist on my install as it used to on UTM 9. Do you actually have that path?

I'll take a look at using /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 instead. Thank you!

Just wanted to add to it:

I use ESXi 6 Update 1 also and have configured with 4vCPU's 8GB ram and 3 NICS, all VMXNET3 and setup the OS for Suse linux Enterprise 64bit, installed from the Normal ISO, as the OVF leaves me with some "funny" settings with OS Unknown 32bit and Flexible NIC's are not my taste.

What OS is the "right" one? the new SFOS is, in some matter, a *nix system [;)]

I thought for some reason that it was some flavor of ubuntu. What is uname -a saying. I would find out myself but I have since deleted my vm[:$] . i remember the kernel being 3.14.xx
