Essential can't update

Hey,

can anyone help me out on this?
Installed a virtual Essential from ISO in a vmware cloud and its running fine.
However the manual patch seems to fail no matter what I do.

The issue seems to be the same no matter what up2date package I choose.

    The naming scheme is like u2d-sys--.tgz.gpg. So the Update you're trying to aplly is to get 9.100008 to 9.100016. That won't work as you're on 9.007-005

    I'm not sure if it will work, but try it with "u2d-sys-9.007004-100016.tgz.gpg" as there is no "9007005-100016"...

    If that doesn't help, you may edit the version number to 9.007004 as descibed here: https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/51/p/21326/54682#54682
    Make sure you have a valid backup before you do so.

    If that also doesn't work, install from scratch with the newest available ISO and reapply your backup afterwards.

    Only been running commercial licenses for years. What a pain that there is no auto firmware patch in the Essential or a commulative update feature.

    Will try as suggested or just reinstall which likely will be faster than messing around with it..

    Simple answer: they want to gain money (as every business does) and push you to get a paid license... [;)]

    I figured that :-)

    And I dont really mind paying at all, its a great product.
    However for this particular one I dont really need more functionality than "Essential" - not even close to all of it.
    It just strikes me that automatic firmware installations is really an essential feature security wise.

    But, trying to be legit here at work I will just have to live with it, even though the Home Use version would do just fine in this scenario also.

    Perhaps when its time to upgrade our hardware appliances I will consider a base license for this one as well ;-)

    You can download all the up2dates and apply them one at a time. I do this for the work essentials.

    An UTM Essentials licence is like buying a basic cisco box, it doesn't come with many features and if you want more you have to pay for them.
