ASC cause a lag when opening ms office docs

Hello to everybody!

When I open a Excel-File from a local drive it will be opend in a second. If I make a connection to the VPN and open the File again it takes about 10 seconds.
Other programs like the Windows Exploder and Internet Exploder acts properly. [:S]

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the ASC....doesn't works :-/
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Software: Windows 2000 with all Windows-Updates applied and the latest ASC (v8.12 Build 24).

Your internet connection: 2.000 Kbyte/second ?

Notice the difference.
Might this be the problem?

I think he still opens the file locally ???????

I don't know if excel is like word. But Documents can have references to templates
on servers. This might mean, that he tries to reach a specific server then.

Without a network trace you won't have much luck.

Well we can rule out some ideosyncratic behavior on Excel's part by opening a file in something simple like WordPad and see if we get the same result.

Office does not like to open documents on slow drives!

Also understand that encryption of the VPN connection is another factor making for a (relatively) slow open...
