Hi Daniel,
when did you try to apply the backup? During installation or after initial configuration?
I found I couldn't apply the backup during the initial installation, the log files were investigated by Sophos and nothing found to indicate an issue.

When i did the upgrade it didnt show the initial configuration just turn everything to default.
One strange thing is that it keeps the password for admin that you previously set, then i try to put the backup and it seems like it does but didnt replace the config.
In the last resort - meaning absolutely no other alternative and all hopes lost -, I would wipe/reset the appliance to OEM, upgrade it to 17.1.3, import the backup made when XG was at 17.1.3, and finally upgrade to v17.5.

Hi Paul
Done already, same results, backups dont work
For my own curiosity, where you able, at least, to import your backup made from older v17.1.3 into a newly built/wipe/reset v17.1.3 ?
Or its just that no matter what, it will not upgrade to v17.5 ?

Yes, after all i have to downgrade the version and it kept the previous configuration didnt have to put the backup back.
An also on a clean device on v17.1.3 put the backup of that same version and it work fine, as wel if i make a backup with v17.5 and put it on v17.5 it works.
Is this using a home License by any chance? I had the same issue with 17.1.3. The VM I was running it within had more RAM than the license allowed. Lowered it to 6Gb and the issue was resolved.
No, both devices are barely new and have been on test after production deployment, licenses has been activated

I have almost 7 or 8 eigth yeras using first Astaro then move to sophos, astaro on UTM as well as they kept on SOPHOS brand is a good product overall, but i think for a security product XG Firewall has a lot of opportunity for growth before being considered one of the main security products.

Well ... If you've been through the setup process of HA, I'm almost certain you have considered a third party log viewer and/or packet viewer ??? In combination with something like Wireshark or something else ... One day, if I have time I will look at setting a TAP port those Sophos firewalls.
