Bug: Old bnx2 firmware present in beta2, NIC unusable

The bnx2 firmware present in v17.5.Beta2 at /lib/firmware/bnx2/ is same as in v17.1. You can use scp instead of USB to copy files from/to XG.

Right, and that version (as well as 17.2) needs this corrected too. The bnx2 firmware was updated for Linux kernel 3.3.

That requires a NIC to be working. All of mine are NetXtreme II cards and do not work until the appropriate firmware is loaded into the kernel. Please just add the updated file to the firmware image. Can I add it to my ISO myself? (Does the installer checksum the image and will my modifications break that?)

You can obtain the file from the official Debian packages here: https://packages.debian.org/stretch/firmware-bnx2

Download the .deb file, then issue the command dpkg -x <file.deb>.

We are tracking the request with JIRA ID NC-39743.

Is that an internal-only system or can I check the status of it myself? (Has this firmware been included in 17.5.0 GA? I don't see that issue number in the release notes, so I'm assuming not.)

Hello. This remains a problem in 17.5.7 MR7. It still contains the old useless firmware files. Why is it so difficult for you to just update the files in the master image?!
