Notification list, Multiple recipient and multiple events - Feature request

I like the new notification list tab where email or snmp settings can be defined.

Is there any plan to configure multiple recipient globlally and per notification even?

For example, sending that "Signature disk usage exceeded threshold" to both firewall admins and security team does not make sense. In certain environment, different events are sent to different people.

Another example, sending RED connection is down to the proper branch office manager.

SIEM ca be configured but having this feature on XG could be helpful, especially where SIEM is not yet implemented.

Also, add more events to be configured. Such as successful log-in events, High CPU usage, and so on.

Thanks

  • Hi Luk,

i guess, this will be implemented in the future with Central Management (and the Alert Management within Central).

There will be some investments to take it further. Just to add to your Feature Request.

  • Appreciated, Luca.

Not all customers will use Central and since the new notification tab is there, some modifications "should" not require a lot of resources.

I am thinking even about SMS notification. If the mail system is not working, certain notification via SMS could help.

    Thanks

  • Another addon is, Central Management is for free, so basically only SFM/CFM Managing would be a blocker right now. If not, you could use a Central account for this system for free (even without any Central License).

So you could basically setup in Central a Instance to inform you on your personal Account / mail Account, if the system is down.

SMS Alerting is not quite easy, but possible. And taking a look at the current movement of the customers, many are moving to Cloud based Mail management systems (O365 etc.). So Central would be able to always send a Mail with the alerting to O365, even if you XG is down.

That this is not require a lot resources could be true, but imagen, if you prioritize all topics, only you open, how high would this change be in your list?

Nothing more than correct! But.....we are here to provide feebacks and improvements on the product and from Sophos side, we hope that, certain features are discarded at the beginning while other go in the backlog where the Product Manager decides priorities. Priorities depend on number of factors (especially framework, number of resources, desirability and so on).

    Thanks

  • Hi Lucar,

    Could this be clarified:

"Another addon is, Central Management is for free, so basically only SFM/CFM Managing would be a blocker right now. If not, you could use a Central account for this system for free (even without any Central License). "

The last time I asked this question to relevant persons, I didn't get a straight answer nor have one still.

As far as can be told, you can only have Sophos Central if you are a licensee of a Central Product. A dashboard cannot be created just under the needs of Firewall Management. Granted I haven't really spent the time to test this by making a trial Dashboard, adding firewalls and seeing if the Dashboard disappears X days after all the licenses expire.

Please can we have this clarified by a PM?

would you be able to clarify, I know this is a Central question, not an NSG question?

    Emile

  • Hi Emile,

Central Management of XG is free of charge and there is currently no intention of charging for it. I do not believe there is a requirement for a different Central Managed product to be licensed first.
