XG on ASG320 with 2GB Ram

I have an old ASG320, Pentium4 with 2GB Ram (maxed out) with 4Gbe and 4Fe interfaces, which I wanted to use as an XG test appliance to get to know the system.
As the ASG320's don't have a VGA port but 2 COM ports instead, but do have an LCD in the front, I was wondering if anyone got to install and use the software version on them yet?

I did manage to get an install completed (hooked up a USB CDRom and a USB keyboard and mimiced the 'type Y' input with a virtual machine next to it until the ASG320 played Fur Elise) but after bootup (I see HDD traffic on the LED), I don't seem to get to be able to connect to 172.16.16.16 in any way...

Anyone did this before, or have had similar issues on another device without VGA?
Any idea how to get in?

I know it's not 100% supported, although the HCL minima are met (I think)... and as it is a non-production setup, I'd like to get this ASG repurposed for it.

Thanks for any advice

  • Hi,

from memory you can't use the inbuilt display.

I would suggest you go to the UTM forums and search for the answer to the LCD and how to install on a hardware UTM.
