Can someone share SFM experience on a Working Environment?

Hi All,

I installed the SFM at my home and added the XG Home appliances and all seems to be good. I have an opportunity for a new tender where XG and SFM can fit in. Can someone share its experiences in production environment where multiple XG have been added and managed?
 Share difficults, limits and bugs. SUM for UTM is limited and cannot fit the tender.

I have already talked with Sophos Sales but I would like to have feedbacks from fields.

  • We installed SFM on a VM at our company HQ (and iView Reporting on another VM). It's now been running for 127 days. We started selling XG to our customers and now have five of them connected to SFM.  One XG85w, one XG125w, one XG115w, and two XG125's. 

    From the SFM I can easily check the security status of each firewall (resources, license, security, etc.), update firmware or with a couple clicks (no additional password entry) update settings on the firewall as if I had logged into it directly.

    I cannot find any bugs and haven't been upset with any limitation. Please address expectations and/or your "limitations" with using UTM and I can address directly.

  • I haven't figured out how to push firmware to all of our managed devices.  All I've seen (And maybe need to dig more) is under "System Management/Device Settings/Firmware". But when I check it just says "Checking for latest firmware, this might take a while" and nothing ever shows up.  Eric is that the right spot that you've done it from?   Maybe the only difference is I'm using the Cloud Firewall Manager, so might be something I need to take up with Support as to why thats not in there.

  • Yes, I just did that under "System Management/Device Settings/Firmware" last time.  This time I instead received and error (upper right corner near Discover & Monitor) "Unable to fetch latest firmware information" so I updated the firmware of the SFP itself from 15.01.0 build 301 to 15.01.0 MR-1.

    After rebooting I went back to "System Management/Device Settings/Firmware" and clicked "Check for Latest Firmware" and it worked.

    When I clicked "Download" next to it downloaded (took a couple minutes) and the button changed from "Download" to "Apply."

    Yes, it appears there is an known problem with the Cloud version also...
