SMB and QUIC requests being sent to another interface on host

Hello,

I know its not really related to Sophos Firewall itself, but I dont know to whom I can reach out for help anymore hehe

So, I have a Client that has two NICs on it's file server, one for LAN access and the other for a Backup network that is only used for the Veeam Backup.

Recently I've been receiving SMB and QUIC requests coming from the LAN and these requests are also being sent to the Backup network NIC. I haven't found nothing that would help me with this on the Microsoft forums, or whatever. It's not a big issue since it's not affecting the network in anyway, but we are concerned for the backup network not being properly isolated.

The LAN network subnet is 172.16.106.0, and the backup network is 172.16.200.0

The Backup network is not being published anywhere and has no DHCP.

Do you guys have any idea of what can be done to prevent these requestes, or for that matter, isolate these 2 NICs within the server?

  • Do you use sd-wan routing?

(looks like loadbalancing or routing dependent on services ..)
