Delayed Printing / Invalid Traffic

I'm not sure we might face a similar problem to https://community.sophos.com/sophos-xg-firewall/f/discussions/131346/sophos-xg-firewalls-printer-delay-or-not-printing-at-all

We implemented a new Sophos XGS 3100 running SFOS V19. Basic firewall-rules in place, no IPS, SSL decryption, active by now.
There's one printer we're seeing some jobs taking around 5 minutes to finish.

Firwall log on XG showing multiple "Invalid traffic" records between printer and printserver, tcp 9100.

But no hits in IPS, DOS, ...

was this fixed in your environment by updating to 18.5 MR2? tried V19 yet?

Any ideas?

  • This problem still lingers, haven't found a solution to it. Usually effect small printers mostly Epson receipt printers. I know its an issue with the Sophos, if we change the clients firewall (Cisco, SonicWALL, Fortinet) the problem go away. They say it take 5 minutes to print and if they turn off the printer and back on and send the print command again it will print. It seems to help if the printer is monitored by SNMP process, not sure why (Maybe it keeps the printer from timing out). I think it has something to do with the printers tcp time out settings and Sophos.
