Sophos Connect with multiple users on the same PC

We have a few floater laptops used by multiple people when traveling. Using the old SSL VPN client, we could add the configuration for each user and they could chose one of those users to connect with when initiating the connection.

Is that a feature that is planned for the Sophos Connnect client?

Perhaps the import process could recognize something like a ConnectionName parameter in the ovpn file and use that to distinguish between two users and their related keys when displaying and making the connection.

  • For the record, I feel like this is a real oversight in how the Connect Client is designed. Is there a way to submit a feature request for this?

We have multiple clients with shared 'pool' laptops, that any one of a dozen staff might take home. Those staff all have unique AD and VPN credentials. I'm sure we can get around it using the generic OpenVPN client, but I'd much rather keep things consistent with the same VPN client everyone else uses.

From what I can see, the limitation is imposed by the Connect Client requiring unique destination host names, where as the previous SSL VPN Client relied on unique configuration file names to differentiate different connections.

  • An alternative solution would be to have the configuration data stored in the user profiles (AppData most likely) instead of Program Files. This would allow unique Windows Profiles to have unique VPN Configurations.
