XG105w to XG106w setting migration

We are using XG105w. As you aware XG105w is EOL, we are upgrading the XG105w to XG106w. The XG105w is running firmware version SFOS 17.5.15 MR-15. XG106w is running firmware version SFOS 18.0.5 MR-5-Build586. Can we backup setting from XG105w then restore to XG106w?

We checked XG backup/restore compatibility matrix. It showed hardware compatibility but not SFOS. The XG105w can't be upgraded to SFOS18. Is cross SFOS version backup/restore possible?

You can do this. The Config will be migrated in the process of importing V17.5 to a V18 appliance.

Thank you for your help. Just in case restore failed, will it damage XG106w. I mean XG106w couldn't boot again?

No, if it does not work, it will fallback to factory default.

Should I complete initial XG106w first (install latest SFOS, register hardware and subscription), then restore XG105w setting?

Personal preference is to use the ISO of the newest image from the mysophos, make a USB Stick ready to reimage the appliance to V18.0 MR5 and then to apply the backup.

Today, I completed initial setup, then install latest firmware SFOS 18.0.5 MR-5, then restore setting. It went thru swiftly. Thank you again.
