Solved: 2 Access Point APX 320 are inactive

Hello Community,

Today on one of our firewalls all (2 pieces) APX320 failed at the same time. The firewall (XG125) shows both APs as "inactive". Restarting the APs did not change anything.
In the awed.log I see these entries:

After that I restarted the firewall without changing anything. The firewall was running MR4 firmware, which I upgraded to MR5. This has not changed either.
What is broken in the JSON file and how can I fix it?

Thanks,

Ben

  • I had the same issue on another Firewall. The Access Point is shown as inactive since 2021-4-8 10:52:00 (the same time as the other APs). In the global settings the allowed Zone is empty.

After I added the Zone again the APs goes online. Very strange.

And I found the next Firewall with the same issue. Now I'm getting confused. Yesterday I rolled out a change to Device Access in Sophos Central for dynamic routing on the firewalls. Unfortunately, Sophos Central overwrote and deleted the WiFi zones.
After I changed the Device Access settings for WiFi, the access points are back online.

    Thanks,

    Ben
