Automatic Backup Size Problem

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the Sophos Community! 

What are the firewall model number and current firmware versions on your firewall? What is the backup file size that you're having trouble sending through email? 

There are only three possible options for configuration backup, and send it to a network share isn’t one of them. However, you could download the configuration backup locally(On a workstation) and send it to network shares.

The current backup is about 58 MB in size.  We have a pair of XG 750 rev 2 running SFOS 18.0.3 MR-3.

Could you please follow the steps outlined as follow and provide the output of the "ls" from the httpclient directory? 

SSH into the XG firewall by following this KBA: Sophos XG Firewall: How to SSH to the firewall using PuTTY utility

• To connect using SSH, you may use any SSH client to connect to port 22 of the SFOS device.
• Select option 5 Device Management.
• Select option 3 Advanced Shell.
• cd /conf
• cd httpclient
• ls

Is it possible to backup using FTPS or SFTP?  Our current FTP server doesn't support plain FTP.

The large backup file could be the result of looping the httpclient folder. Could you please try to cd httpclient from the httpclient and provide the output? 

I would suggest you open a support case at support.sophos.com regarding internal issue ID NC-62850 and send me the support case number via personal message. I will add an internal note for the support team. 

There’s no option to configure SFTP or FTPS under backup mode.
