XG home edition KVM reinstall and licensing question

Hello,

apologies if this is a common question and have been answered a few times before. I have run into some performance issues with my home edition on KVM install.

I would like to test a new clean install on a more powerful machine, and choose virtio NIC, disk drives (generally better performance optoins for KVM) and see if this can eek out a little bit better throughput than my current install.

As you don't use an ISO install with the virtual option, how can you transfer the license over to you new install?

It's been a while since I did the original install, I can't even remember how I activated the hoe edition license firewall the first time:)

  • Hi,

you can use the iso to install and if you have the same number of ports do a restore.

  • NVM.
Went through the initial setup and applied a serial number for home user. After all the initial setup was done, I updated patterns and restored the backup. Don't think it should work like this, but got the firewall running on new hardware as a clean install as I wanted.

Edit: And it was a huge success. doubled the throughput of the device.

  • Hi,

the issue you experienced at build time is quite common and there is a promised change in v18 MR-3.
