Dedicated Management Interface

G'evening..

Been running XG v18 MR1 for awhile and I am about to migrate from VM based to a dedicated machine. With that being said, the new unit has an interface that will be dedicated for management only.

Although I can assign a IP address to the port and get to that interface on the same subnet, I can not figure out how to get a gateway IP assigned. It is a part of the management VLAN, which does get routed via XG on the LACP group. Any thoughts?

The appliances does have separate interfaces, which are labeled "MGMT" but there are not separated like other does. This would need a different backend within the appliances.

Goal is to have a 100% dedicated interface for mgmt purposes that can be accessed if any of the port groups go down.

What do you mean with gateway assigned?

Basically XG does a redirect on link local.

You are in 192.168.1.0/24. XG has another Interface with 172.16.16.16. If you access 172.16.16.16 and your client access the default gateway (XG), it will open the webadmin.

I'm sure he means Out of Band Management, like Paloalto, Fortinet and many competitors does it have.

Exactly my point. Having a port tied to firewall management only, no dependence on a VLAN or other interface. Out of band. There should be a way in which to set this up as it is VERY common.
