Switching between XG and UTM

Hello,

I have UTM installed on one i3 PC, running home edition.

So I wanted to try out XG, since we do plan to do it eventually at work too (SG125 there).

So I went ahead and installed XG one a 2nd drive, what went well (well is a loose term, it took me 3 hours to install it, but never mind that)...

When I wanted to switch back, all was well except my AP15 access points. They seem to have some problems.

After I installed XG, they were showing as inactive. I configured wireless and the AP, rebooted them, and all was fine.

But then I reverted to UTM, and they were showing yellow exclamation mark. I waited a while, nothing happened.

Rebooted the AP - nothing.

Removed, readded - at first still nothing, but then after a while, like 10min or so, they started working again.

As I want to repeat this procedure, it would be good to know what's happening in the background and if I can somehow speed up the process?

Thanks

  • You will find that the AP requires different package to be delivered from the XG to the UTM even though they both might be running the same software version.

You will need to delete the AP after every change of firewall type. The re-registration will take abut 10 minutes each time, be patient.

  • Alright, thank you. At least now I know there is no way around it.
