Setting Up RAID 1

I currently run SFOS 17.5 MR9 on some old hardware which has a failing drive. The machine supports Intel RST (no room to add  proper hardware Raid card as is a small form factor).

While my Linux skill are limited, I do know that many linuxes can set up a raid mirror in software if one has a pair of drives (which I do). Is this possible in SFOS? If so, how?

If not - is this a feature worth requesting or is it too fanciful?

    Paul,

    I do not think that XG has the libraries to host a RAID SW. If it is your own HW, create the RAID by using the onboard raid controller or buy a new HW. Old HW performs bad on XG. Go for a new Intel system and take the advantage of DPI implemented in v18.

    This is my advice.

    There actually is SW Raid on XG.

    SFVH_SO01_SFOS 18.0.0 GA-Build321# mdadm --help
    mdadm is used for building, managing, and monitoring
    Linux md devices (aka RAID arrays)

     

    The only problem is, It's not possible to create the array before the installation.
