No email notifications on IOS

New install of Cloud Sophos Mobile Security to evaluate software, iphone with IOS11.2 & Sophos client 7.44.2 does not receive notifications of new email, badge does not update. I know this is not a new issue and that an explanation of how IOS prioritizes tasks has been given. I have the Outlook client installed and linked to the same account (not the native Apple email) and the notifications work just fine. I have verified the background refresh etc is all turned on. It does not matter if I have logged into the Sophos app or not. Without realtime (or even something reasonable) notification users acceptance would be zero, which is understandable. I have used Xenmobile in the past and did not have this issue.

Thoughts or suggestions?
