Andr/Gedma-b

Hi, I am test driving Sophos. Just downloaded the app today. After its initial scan, flagged 'System Update' as malicious, "andr/gedma-b". System Update is pre-installed, and cannot be removed unless the device is rooted.

Moreover, there is no presented option to ignore, or, add to the allow list. System Update was never before flagged by the other security apps I've used, and when I click on  more details, the app takes me to a site apologizing for the lack of info about this issue.

**edit** solved issue, went the device 'manage apps' and when I clicked on System Update there I was presented with the option to add to allow list.

  • Could specifiy which version of Andriod you are using and the device model? That way if someone else finds this thread they can also use your work around.

  • Sure,  android 4.4.2 Kit Kat, Alcatel Onetouch model A483BG. However, I have since switched back to McAfee mobile security.

  • Hello,

I have the same Problem, but can't solved the Problem with a Update.

My config: Wiko Lenny - Android 4.4.2 - last System Version

A year later and Sophos has still managed to give us not the ability to safely ignore special PUA, because it simply belongs to the system. The same constant message annoys any when.

I like this App, but only this false report, I hate it! I also asked Wiko and they told me the Device Management is absolutely safe!

Sorry, Tony, but I do not understand your last sentence. What device 'manage app' and what 'System Update' do you/he mean? And where should you please add it to the allowed list? There is no way for me! In the list inside the Sophos App, there is not even a button to press to add any App!

    yours Lukai
