Sophos Mobile & Android: need to wipe the device?

Hello, to manage an Android device is necessary to wipe it and reinitialize with Android Enterprise? Is there a way to not wipe?

  • Hello Gino,

Thank you for reaching out to the Sophos Community.

Regarding wiping the device before enrollment, this is required when enrolling devices as "Android Enterprise Full Device Managed." This is also referred to as "COBO" in some instances.

A different type of enrollment intended for "BYOD" devices is known as "Android Enterprise Work Profile." When enrolling a device in this management mode, it won’t require you to factory reset it.

Hopefully, this information helps though if anything is unclear, feel free to reach back out.
